Overview
Paul Abelkop is senior counsel in the Dallas, Texas, office of WSHB. He is a San Diego native who was born in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Paul received his Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience & Behavior from Columbia University, where he was named to the Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement for several semesters. He was a member of the Columbia Neuroscience Society, Bacchanal Events, and the freshman lightweight crew team.
Prior to his legal career, Paul was a neuroscience researcher with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Nobel Laureate Dr. Paul Greengard. He then shifted to macroeconomic consulting, working directly under Dr. Arthur Laffer.
Paul received his Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law, where he was a Dean’s Scholar and served as president of the Intellectual Property Organization. He was also a pupil in the Honorable Barbara M. Lynn’s Inn of Court.
Before joining WSHB, he practiced in a variety of areas, including intellectual property, trusts and estates, and family law. Paul has an extensive background in complex civil litigation, insurance coverage, and appellate litigation.
