Sean Phillips is senior counsel in WSHB's Sonoma County office, bringing extensive experience across various practice areas including appellate work, business litigation, construction law, intellectual property, transportation, professional liability, tribal law and product liability. Sean’s focused experience in multiple areas of civil litigation, particularly trial and appellate work, has equipped him with a strategic approach to handling complex cases. Sean’s comprehensive background in civil litigation and appellate cases, which have spanned from small matters at the trial court, to the California Supreme Court, has provided him with a unique and strategic perspective that yields positive outcomes for his clients. Sean’s educational achievements and diverse legal background underscore his competence and effectiveness as an attorney, particularly in navigating the complexities of appellate law and high stakes trial-level cases.

Sean earned his Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law with a High Technology Certification. While in law school, he was elected Director of Internal Communications of the Student Bar Association and President of the Family Law Society. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in United States History from the University of San Francisco, where he graduated cum laude. As an undergraduate, he received the school’s Asian History Award as a distinguished scholar chosen by the faculty.

He began his legal career working as a law clerk for two years at an all-purpose family law firm, followed by 3 years at a civil firm in the Silicon Valley. As a Deputy District Attorney at the District Attorney’s Office in Mendocino County, Sean gained hands-on motion and trial experience before he joined WSHB.
