Michael Schacher is a partner in WSHB’s New York City office, where he brings a wealth of experience and a results-driven approach to the firm’s litigation practice. Michael manages all aspects of litigation, guiding clients from the pre-suit investigation stage through trial and the appellate process. His practice encompasses a broad range of civil defense matters, including trucking and transportation litigation, products and premises liability, construction defects, labor law, appellate advocacy, and insurance coverage disputes. Michael is well-versed in representing clients in both State and Federal Courts throughout New York and New Jersey, adeptly navigating the nuances of each jurisdiction to achieve successful outcomes.

Michael has secured numerous dispositive motion victories, including securing summary judgment in cases that eliminated potential high exposure to his clients. He is recognized as an effective litigator, with deep experience of all phases of litigation, including conducting complex depositions, handling arbitrations, mediations and trials, and drafting and arguing appeals. His responsiveness, dedication and effectiveness has earned the trust of clients facing challenging and high-stakes litigation.

In addition to his broad civil defense practice, Michael possesses particular expertise in trucking and transportation litigation. He plays a key role in supporting and coordinating the defense of several national trucking companies, developing strategies to mitigate their risk and understands the evolving trucking industry regulations. His proactive approach and in-depth knowledge of transportation law make him an invaluable resource for clients navigating complex, multi-jurisdictional matters within the transportation sector.

  • Secured summary judgment and dismissal of Plaintiff's Complaint in a slip and fall over an alleged mis-leveled vault grate resulting in surgery. Morote v. Con-Ed, et al., Index No.: 716118/2021, Queens County Supreme Court.
  • Secured summary judgment and dismissal of Plaintiff's Complaint in a trip and fall on a staircase at the Park Avenue Amory resulting in multiple injuries. Hamel v. Park Avenue Armory, et al., Index No.: 450647/2018, New York County Supreme Court.
  • Secured summary judgment dismissal of Plaintiff's Complaint involving a college lacrosse accident with an alleged Traumatic Brain Injury. Greiber v. NCAA, et al., Index No.: 600400/2017, Nassau County Supreme Court.
  • Obtained a unanimous defense verdict as second chair in a motor vehicle accident lawsuit resulting in three surgeries and a $5M demand. Roth v. Three Speed Design, et al., Index No.: 152640/2016, New York County Supreme Court.
  • Secured summary judgment and dismissal of Plaintiff's Complaint in a trip and fall over an alleged mis-leveled elevator resulting in two surgeries. Walsh v. West Gramercy Associates, et al., Index No.: 151154/2014, New York County Supreme Court.
  • Secured a reversal of the Court's Order granting plaintiff's motion for summary judgment on liability in a pedestrian strike trucking accident resulting in multiple injuries and surgeries in the Eastern District of New York.
