Wood Smith Henning & Berman announces that Michael Schacher has joined the New York City office as partner, bringing extensive experience defending complex, high-exposure litigation involving trucking and transportation, premises liability, product liability, and New York Labor Law.

Schacher is an experienced litigator who has represented clients through every stage of litigation, from initial case assessment and discovery through depositions, dispositive motions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial. His practice has included the defense of national trucking clients and the oversight of extensive portfolios in coordination with attorneys across multiple jurisdictions. That experience complements his broader practice defending businesses in premises liability and Labor Law matters. Schacher is also barred in New Jersey and has extensive experience handling cases in New Jersey State and Federal Courts.

"Michael brings exactly the kind of sophisticated litigation experience and practical judgment that our clients value," said New York co-managing partner Tracy Abatemarco. "He understands how to manage complex, high-exposure cases from the earliest stages while always keeping an eye on the ultimate objective. His significant transportation experience, in particular, will be an important addition to our capabilities in New York and nationally."

Schacher has achieved significant results for clients throughout his career, including winning several motions for summary judgment in high-exposure personal injury cases. He has also served as trial counsel in New York Supreme Courts, giving him substantial courtroom experience and insight into developing cases for trial from the outset.

"I'm excited to join a team with a strong commitment to litigation excellence and client service," Schacher said. "I look forward to bringing my experience to the New York office and collaborating with attorneys across the firm to achieve the best possible results for our clients."

Schacher's work has earned recognition from the Best Lawyers in America, which named him to its Ones to Watch list for Product Liability Litigation- Defendants from 2023 through 2025.
