Wood Smith Henning & Berman is proud to announce that partners Nicole Aldridge-Henry, Maggy Mazlin and Jennifer M. Provost have been elected to the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), recognizing their distinguished records in the courtroom as well as their commitment to excellence professionalism and integrity in the practice of law.

The election of three additional attorneys to ABOTA marks a significant achievement for the firm because it reflects the strength and depth of its trial practice. Each of these distinguished new members has built an impressive record handling complex, high-stakes litigation and trying cases before juries while bringing their own distinctive experience, perspective and approach to the courtroom.

"Having three of our attorneys elected to ABOTA is an extraordinary recognition of the caliber of trial lawyers we have across the firm," said Founding Partner Stephen Henning. "Nicole, Maggy and Jennifer have each earned the respect of clients, colleagues, adversaries, judges and juries through years of hard work in the courtroom. Their election reflects not only their individual accomplishments but also the culture of trial excellence which they help foster throughout our firm."

Founded in 1958, ABOTA is a national, invitation only organization of experienced trial lawyers and judges dedicated to preserving the right to civil jury trials and promoting professionalism, integrity and civility within the legal profession. Election requires substantial civil jury trial experience as lead counsel coupled with the professional and ethical qualities expected of attorneys committed to the preservation of the Seventh Amendment.

Nicole P. Aldridge-Henry

Nicole P. Aldridge-Henry is an accomplished trial attorney whose practice encompasses construction and New York Labor Law, general liability, premises liability, transportation, professional liability and appellate matters. Known for her client-centered approach, Nicole combines extensive courtroom experience with a practical understanding of the business considerations driving litigation strategy.

Nicole's commitment to the profession extends beyond her cases. She serves as an adjunct professor at Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University. Additionally, since 2014  she has served as a mock trial coach with the Thurgood Marshall mock trial competition working with a number of Bronx middle school mock trial teams, helping develop the next generation of advocates.

"ABOTA represents so much of what I value about being a trial lawyer, such as preparation, professionalism, civility and respect for the jury system," Aldridge-Henry said. "I am honored to join an organization of attorneys who share those principles and deeply grateful to colleagues, clients and mentors who have been part of my journey in the courtroom."

Maggy Mazlin

Maggy Mazlin is a nationally recognized trial attorney with extensive experience handling high-stakes litigation and trying complex cases to verdict. Her courtroom experience spans jurisdictions and subject matters, including a recent trial in Alaska as well as significant matters throughout New York.

At the heart of Maggy's trial practice is an ability to transform complicated facts and legal issues into compelling, distilled accounts to persuasively engage the juries in her cases. She understands that juries do not simply respond to evidence but are also swayed by advocates who can explain why that evidence matters.

"Trial work is ultimately about connecting with people," Mazlin said. "Every case presents a different set of facts, a different jury and a different set of challenges. Being elected to ABOTA is especially meaningful because it recognizes the craft of trying cases while also honoring the professionalism and civility that should define our work."

Jennifer M. Provost

With more than 25 years of experience, Jennifer is one of New York's most accomplished trial attorneys, with a substantial record of cases tried to verdict and a consistent history of success. Her practice focuses on tort litigation, particularly transportation, premises liability and New York Labor Law.

Jennifer is known for her ability to quickly assess a case, identify its most significant risks and develop an effective path toward resolution or trial. She also works closely with clients before litigation arises, helping them identify potential exposures and implement strategies designed to mitigate risk. As a member of WSHB's Rapid Response Team, she is frequently called upon by clients to provide immediate guidance when significant incidents occur.

"Some of the most important qualities which a trial lawyer can bring to the courtroom are preparation, judgment, credibility and respect for the process," said Provost. "I am honored to be elected to ABOTA, joining attorneys and judges who are committed to protecting the civil jury system and maintaining the highest standards of our profession."

Together, the election of these three outstanding WSHB attorneys underscores the firm's commitment to developing and supporting trial lawyers who are prepared to take complex matters through trial to verdict when necessary.
