Nationally acclaimed litigator Robert Hellner, partner at WSHB, will join a panel of experts to discuss “ADA and Internet Access Liability: Trends and Strategies” at the 2018 CLM Annual Conference this week in Houston, Texas. Joining Robert is Ben Accardo from Beazley and Michele Landis from Accessible360.

“Retailers and business owners nationwide are facing a wave of new liability under the ADA for internet access issues,” said Hellner, who enjoys a national reputation for successfully defending complex commercial and employment matters. “Jurisdictions are split on whether liability exists, and if so, what standards should apply.”

It’s expected the panel speakers will discuss the various expansions in liability, defense arguments and trends and strategies for assessing liability and exposure to, and the resolution of, ADA and internet accessibility matters.

Robert focuses his practice on the defense of employment, professional liability and commercial litigation claims. As part of his litigation practice, Robert has defended hundreds of sensitive discrimination, harassment and wage claims for his clients and in multiple jurisdictions across the country, including through verdict. In this practice, Robert and his team frequently litigate disputed claims under Title VII, the ADA, FLSA, FMLA, FDCPA, FCRA and associated state and local laws. In the area of professional liability, he has successfully defended attorneys, accountants, insurance agents and design professionals.

Robert is an invited speaker on topics including e-discovery litigation strategies and emerging employer liabilities, including under the Affordable Care Act, and has provided detailed advice to liability carriers and employer groups on the impacts of Sections 1557 and 1558 of that Act. In addition, Robert is a requested contributor to leading legal journals, including the CLM Magazine.
