Overview
Starr Petersen is an accomplished associate attorney in WSHB's Michigan office, handling all facets of complex civil litigation, including transportation, premises liability, and product liability cases. Her expertise encompasses a diverse range of legal challenges, allowing her to provide comprehensive support to firm clients throughout the litigation process.
Before joining WSHB, Starr worked at the U.S. Securities and Exchange as an attorney advisor in the Office of Broker-Dealer Exchange Commission, where she earned a Four Pillars Award for outstanding service to the Exams program. Before that, she honed her litigation skills as an assistant prosecuting attorney in the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office Mortgage Deed and Fraud Unit.
Starr graduated from Notre Dame Law School. While in law school, she was a member of the Exoneration Justice Clinic and the juvenile public defender externship where she was awarded the Champion of Justice Award for her extraordinary commitment to public service. She was also an editor on the Notre Dame Journal of International and Comparative Law, a National Science Foundation Responsible Innovation fellow, a graduate teaching assistant, alumni chair of the Real Estate Law Society, and academic chair of the Hispanic Law School Association.
Prior to law school, Starr worked as a paralegal at Home Point Financial Corporation, she also worked as a senior mortgage banker at Rocket Mortgage. Starr earned degrees in Political Science and Theatre & Drama Arts from the University of Michigan.
Outside of her professional life, Starr enjoys running, spending time at the lake, reading, and attending Detroit sporting events.
