Overview

Robert Rhoten is senior counsel in WSHB's Glendale, California, office focusing his practice on representing healthcare practitioners and groups, health maintenance organizations, and healthcare facilities. He specializes in professional and general liability cases involving medical malpractice, wrongful death, elder and dependent neglect, managed care liability, patient rights violations, and civil rights violations, in both court and arbitration. Mr. Rhoten has defended medical providers across all areas of medicine, including but not limited to cases involving surgical care, birth injuries, diagnoses of rare conditions and diseases, pediatric care, and psychiatric care.

Mr. Rhoten earned his J.D. from Southwestern Law School and his B.S. from Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Business. While at Southwestern Law School, he was a Lead Articles Editor on the Southwestern Law Review and in the top 10% of his class through graduation. Additionally, Mr. Rhoten completed a Fellowship with the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). He is a member of the Southern California Association of Hospital Risk Managers (SCAHRM) and Association of Southern California Defense Counsel (ASCDC).

Mr. Rhoten is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He moved to Los Angeles in 2015 and has called it home since. He is an avid reader and, when outside the office, can be found poolside or at the beach with his wife and three daughters. He is fluent in Spanish.
