Overview

As Senior Counsel in WSHB’s Northern California office, Nancy McPherson is distinguished by her sophisticated approach to complex litigation, including catastrophic injury, property damage, construction defects, and landlord-tenant disputes. She successfully leads the defense of multiple public entities, including local municipalities, sanitary districts, housing authorities, cities, and school districts, in matters related to inverse condemnation and nuisance, landslides, overflow claims, dangerous conditions, and collection and contract disputes. These cases have involved injunctive relief, as well as personal injury and property damage claims. Nancy has also litigated multiple construction injury cases.

Her representation of school districts extends to sensitive matters, including sexual assault litigation. She has advocated for public housing authorities and prosecuted a significant number of Unlawful Detainer claims, frequently moving to jury and court trials when settlements could not be achieved. In addition, her practice encompasses collection actions on behalf of lending businesses and trust and estate matters.

A seasoned litigator, she has brought seven jury trials to verdict and authored briefs for the California Court of Appeal. In her first jury trial, she secured a defense verdict in just seven minutes. Beyond the courtroom, her mediation credentials include service for the Contra Costa, Solano, and Alameda County Superior Courts, and she is formally trained by the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University.

An avid sports fan, she closely follows Pittsburgh teams. When away from the courtroom, she enjoys playing tennis and golf and pursues sewing as a creative hobby.
