Overview
Kathryn R. Unterberger (she/her/hers), or Katy, is an associate attorney at WSHB's New York City office, handling all facets of complex civil litigation.
Katy graduated cum laude from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Media Arts. After completing her degree, she worked as a media administrator at NFL Films, where she assisted producers and editors on acclaimed shows such as NFL Films Presents, Hard Knocks, and A Football Life.
Following her time at NFL Films, Katy enrolled in the Accelerated Program at Brooklyn Law School, where she earned her Juris Doctor and a certificate in Intellectual Property, Media, and Information Law in an expedited timeframe. As an incoming first-year law student, she received the Community Superhero Scholarship for her longstanding commitment to volunteerism and community service.
Katy served as the Media Chair of the Brooklyn Entertainment and Sports Law Association and worked as a Copyright Research Assistant while in law school. Upon graduation, she was honored with the Samuel P. and Ellen Sporn Award in recognition of her positive contributions and dedication to the school.
Before joining WSHB, Katy focused her practice on representing medical institutions and physicians in complex, multi-party medical malpractice cases in federal and state courts throughout New York. She also worked at CAMBA Legal Services, where she represented low-income tenants in summary eviction proceedings in Kings County Housing Court.
Katy is licensed to practice law in New York State, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the Executive Office for Immigration Review. She also speaks conversational Spanish.
