Overview

Dion West is a senior associate in WSHB's Tampa office. He focuses his practice on complex civil litigation in the areas of complex tort and casualty matters. Dion is also widely sought out for his handling of complex insurance coverage issues.

Mr. West's experience includes ligating civil cases relating to Florida’s Personal Injury Protection laws and representing medical providers. He also served as an Assistant State Attorney in the Seventh Circuit State Attorney’s Office in St. Johns County and the Thirteenth Circuit State Attorney’s Office in Hillsborough County, Florida. In both capacities, Mr. West prosecuted cases involving misdemeanor criminal acts, DUIs, Domestic Violence, and criminal traffic cases.

Before pursuing a career in law, Mr. West served the country honorably for 24 years in the United States Army where he received numerous awards, including a Two Star Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War of Terrorism Medal, and an induction into the Sergeant Morales Club, an honor reserved for those demonstrating outstanding leadership. Operating in six countries, Mr. West was responsible for the supervision, training, and welfare of thousands of personnel.

Mr. West received his Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School and his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Upper Iowa University. While in law school, he was active in the Veterans, Immigration, Disability and Benefits Practitioner Clinics, helping veterans and those with disabilities with issues about their benefits.
