Overview

Barbara Meeks is senior counsel in WSHB’s Dallas office with over 15 years of experience. She specializes in complex civil litigation, with a focus on employment law, general liability, personal injury, and corporate transactions. She also represents professionals and insurers in errors and omissions (E&O) matters, defends attorneys, insurance agents, and other licensed professionals against claims of negligence, malpractice, and breach of duty, and counsels insurance carriers on E&O policy interpretation and coverage disputes. She works closely with clients to mitigate risk and resolve claims through negotiation, litigation, or alternative dispute resolution.

Her distinguished career includes serving as an Administrative Law Judge for the Mississippi Department of Employment Security Commission, an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas (TAAG), and an Attorney Advisor for the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Barbara earned her J.D. from Mississippi College School of Law and her B.A. in Political Science from Tougaloo College. During her studies, she was honored with the prestigious Reuben V. Anderson Pre-Law Award in recognition of her mentorship and contributions to fellow students. Barbara is committed to community service, volunteering as a judge for the Texas High School Mock Trial Competitions, hosting free legal clinics and camps for children, and actively participating in various service initiatives.

Beyond her legal career, Barbara is active in philanthropy. She founded the Senator Henry J. Kirksey Scholarship Fund for pre-law majors from the Mississippi Delta and is a member of several professional associations, including the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, and the State Bar of Mississippi.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughters.
