Wood Smith Henning & Berman proudly announces that White Plains Managing Partner, Michelle Arbitrio, will be installed as President-Elect of the Professional Liability Defense Federation (PLDF) during the organization's Annual Meeting, held September 17-19, 2025, at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. Arbitrio will serve as President-Elect until she assumes the role of President in 2026.

Arbitrio has actively served the organization for more than a decade. Her past roles include Chief Diversity Officer, Secretary, Treasurer, member of the Board of Directors, Chair of the Insurance Agents and Brokers Committee, and Co-Chair of the Nuclear Verdicts Committee. In her new role as President-Elect, Arbitrio will guide PLDF's mission of advancing the defense of professional liability claims through education, collaboration, and thought leadership.

"It is an honor to step into this role and continue building on PLDF's tradition of excellence," commented Arbitrio. "PLDF is a unique community where defense lawyers, insurance professionals, and industry leaders come together to address the evolving challenges of professional liability claims. I look forward to working alongside our members to strengthen our profession and expand opportunities for collaboration and growth."

An accomplished trial and appellate attorney, Arbitrio has extensive experience representing clients in state and federal courts in both New York and Connecticut. She also serves as National Trial Counsel and National Coordinating Counsel for clients across the country in state and federal lawsuits, multi-district litigation, FINRA arbitrations, and class actions.

Nationally recognized for her expertise in management, professional, and employment liability, Arbitrio counsels and defends directors and officers facing claims of fraud, negligence, and breach of fiduciary duty. She has built a reputation as a trusted advisor and skilled advocate in complex, high-exposure matters.

PLDF is a national organization of attorneys, insurers, and claims professionals focused on defending claims against all professionals, from lawyers to accountants to brokers and consultants. Its members share resources, strategies, and education to advance the defense bar and improve outcomes in professional liability litigation.
