Candidates satisfy rigorous trial experience requirements, including serving as lead counsel in at least seven civil jury trials to verdict, and must be nominated and approved by their local chapter before election to membership. Founded in 1958, ABOTA is comprised of experienced trial lawyers and judges committed to protecting the Seventh Amendment right to trial by jury while promoting the highest standards of civility and ethics within the legal profession.
