WSHB is seeking an experienced Paralegal with at least 3 years of experience to support a General Liability Defense practice. This position requires a proactive, analytical professional who can adapt to evolving project needs, using the latest in AI tools to support attorneys at a strategic level, and contribute to internal and client-facing initiatives. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working autonomously, and capable of elevating the quality and efficiency of legal and analytical work product.

While this position is remote, you must live in a state where WSHB has an office location - no exceptions. The states we are located in include: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Core Responsibilities:

Litigation & Case Support

    • Support attorneys in all phases of general liability defense matters
    • Review and analyze plaintiff demands, medical records, pleadings, and case files
    • Prepare initial case evaluations summarizing liability, damages, exposure, and key issues
    • Identify and articulate additional facts, documents, or discovery needed to strengthen defense strategy
    • Anticipate attorney needs and proactively prepare materials to support case strategy and decision-making
    • Draft, organize, and elevate written work product for attorney review

Special Projects & Analytical Work

    • Participate in special projects as assigned, both internally within the firm and externally with clients
    • Track active cases and key data points (e.g., exposure, reserves, settlement posture, medical specials, venues, timelines)
    • Maintain case tracking databases
    • Prepare quarterly dashboards and reports summarizing case metrics, trends, and performance indicators
    • Assist with ad hoc data analysis projects to support attorneys, firm leadership, or client reporting needs

Workflow & Process Improvement

    • Work autonomously to manage assignments and deadlines with minimal supervision
    • Create, refine, and maintain efficient workflows to manage recurring and project-based work
    • Identify opportunities to improve internal processes, organization, and data management
    • Adapt quickly to changing priorities and project requirements

Key Skills & Qualifications

    • Paralegal certificate and/or equivalent paralegal experience in general liability or civil litigation defense
    • Strong organizational and project management skills
    • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally to the attorney
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (tracking, formulas, pivot tables, dashboards, data organization)
    • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to elevate and refine legal work product
    • Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and manage multiple priorities
    • Experience analyzing medical records and damages in personal injury matters
    • Comfort working on non-traditional paralegal projects that blend legal, analytical, and operational work
