The federal court judge issued a comprehensive 19-page opinion dismissing the class action and adopting the arguments presented by partners Dan Paret and Chris Seusing on behalf of their client, a non-profit mental health facility.
The lawsuit stemmed from a ransomware attack compromising the sensitive information of thousands of individuals. Leveraging extensive knowledge of Texas and data privacy law, the firm successfully asserted the client's immunity under the law. After removing the case to federal court, the team worked diligently within a tight timeframe to craft a comprehensive motion to dismiss.
