WSHB's Cynthia Tari to speak at CLM's 2020 Annual Conference

Cynthia Tari, Of Counsel in WSHB's Dallas office, will take to the stage at this year's Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) Annual Conference in Dallas, Texas. “New Developments in Challenging Certificates of Merit — Seeking Dismissal for Failure to Concurrently File Certificate with the Original Petition" is the topic of a highly anticipated panel session being led by Ms. Tari and fellow experts Kristina Ashcraft (MC Consultants, Inc.), Robert Daniel (Hiscox), and Erica Holzman (Beazley). The panel will take place on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at 2:00 PM.

This session will cover a national compendium of Certificate of Merit law identifying common factors courts rely on to dismiss a case with prejudice. The panelists will lead a conversation around pitfalls to avoid when filing the motion to dismiss and variances among state laws. Specific cases will be discussed, along with drafting recommendations for defense counsel and experts faced with this issue.

"We are proud of the fact that Cynthia is widely regarded as the 'go to' lawyer for complex construction cases throughout Texas," said Stephen Henning, one of the co-founders of Wood Smith Henning & Berman. Mr. Henning, recipient of the prestigious CLM Outside Counsel of the Year award stated, "In addition to her strong litigation skills, Cynthia's extensive background in architecture gives her a skill set and critical eye towards details and defenses that is highly prized by clients."

As one of the leading lawyers in Texas, Tari's real world experience in the field of architecture is widely sought out by design professionals and developers. She has designed and overseen construction projects from start to finish, including single family, mixed use, commercial and high-rise developments, as well as consulting and advising builders and construction companies on issues arising from prevailing wage claims and workplace regulations. This real life experience gives Cynthia a unique perspective and advantage in handling construction defect and professional design matters.

The CLM Annual Conference is the premier annual event for professionals in the claims and litigation management industries. The conference is a tremendous mix of interactive educational sessions and networking events. Participants can select from more than 100 collaborative educational sessions focused on all facets of the industry.
