Overview
Dremain "Drew" T. Moore is a Senior Counsel in Wood Smith Henning & Berman's Cybersecurity and Data Privacy litigation practice. Drew defends clients in high-stakes privacy and biometric litigation, including actions under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) and Genetic Information Privacy Act (GIPA), alongside commercial disputes involving contractual breaches, products liability claims, and insurance coverage disputes. He counsels clients on privacy compliance and risk mitigation, staying closely attuned to this fast-developing area of law to keep their defenses current.
Drew has drafted and argued dispositive motions in federal and state courts, taken and defended key depositions, and resolved multiple BIPA actions with aggregate exposure exceeding $100 million through early motion practice, strategic discovery initiatives, and negotiated resolution. He regularly leads case teams, supervising associates, e-discovery vendors, and experts in complex internal investigations related to multijurisdictional matters.
Before joining WSHB, Drew practiced at a U.S. full-service law firm in their Business Litigation Department as a Senior Associate and, earlier, spent over a decade in-house in Black Entertainment Television’s Business and Legal Affairs Department, where he advised creative and business teams on intellectual property, privacy, and rights-and-clearances issues for more than 150 productions, negotiated third-party content licenses, designed consent and clearance processes for the use of individuals' likenesses, and trained BET producers and creative personnel on copyright, trademark, and privacy matters.
He earned his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and is admitted to the State Bar of Illinois, the Northern District of Illinois, and the New York State Bar (pro hac vice). He is an Associate Board Member of Mercy Home for Boys & Girls and a member of the Illinois State Bar Association's Privacy & Information Security Council, currently serving as Secretary and Legislative Review subcommittee member.
