Overview
Amy C. Burns is senior counsel at WSHB in Atlanta, Georgia. Her practice focuses on insurance coverage and litigation. She has considerable experience in insurance coverage and receiverships, as counsel to guaranty associations, as well as in governmental regulatory matters, having served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia.
Before joining WSHB, Amy’s practice involved litigating issues about guaranty association coverage of property, casualty, and life insurance policies. Through her prior practice, she gained a thorough understanding of insurance claims evaluation and resolution, as well as the application of statutory analysis to the unique questions of guaranty association coverage. Her diligence and preparedness, along with a calm and organized approach to the practice of law, were appreciated by claims staff, client representatives, and regulators. In addition to her coverage work, Amy has experience in civil litigation, having represented both plaintiffs and defendants in various matters.
Amy earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law and her undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Georgia State University. She is admitted to practice in Georgia courts, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia.
