Tangible Strategies for Combatting Unconscious Bias against Women in the Workplace without Risking Backlash

February 1, 2019

WSHB Partner Michelle Arbitrio to Speak at 3rd Annual Women in Insurance Leadership ExecuSummit

WSHB partner Michelle Arbitrio will lead a panel entitled “Tangible Strategies for Combatting Unconscious Bias against Women in the Workplace without Risking Backlash” at the 3rd Annual Women in Insurance Leadership ExecuSummit on March 6, 2019. Joan Simone of AmTrust, Antoinette Parker of Berkley Pro, and Erika Nelson of Allied World will also participate in the panel presentation.

“Unconscious bias is a prevalent and challenging issue to address in the workplace that impacts recruiting, hiring, performance evaluations, promotion and tenure, and consideration for leadership positions,” said Ms. Arbitrio, a partner in WSHB’s New York office. “It is our hope that attendees will leave this presentation armed with best practices to identify and disrupt unconscious bias, so that it does not present a barrier to their career advancement in the insurance industry.”

The Women in Leadership ExecuSummit Conference will take place on March 5th and 6th, 2019 at the Mohegan Sun Resort & Convention Center in Uncasville, Connecticut. The Conference is designed to provoke strategic thinking, provide new insights, open up channels of information, and provide attendees with opportunities to meet and exchange ideas with peers, key industry executives, and leaders.

Ms. Arbitrio, a practicing attorney for nearly 20 years, specializes in the defense of complex professional liability and employment disputes and handles securities arbitrations before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Ms. Arbitrio is committed to the advancement of women in the insurance industry, and she is looking forward to leading a panel about unconscious bias at the upcoming ExecuSummit Conference.
