Overview

Eric Wineinger-Schattl is a senior associate in WSHB's Glendale office. With over a decade of experience, he represents firm clients in complex civil litigation. 

Eric is admitted to the State Bars of California and Maryland, as well as the Central District of California. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Duke University School of Law, where he received a merit scholarship, participated in the law’s school’s Wrongful Convictions Clinic, and served as a senior editor of the Duke Law Journal of Gender Law and Policy. He obtained both his Master’s degree in Public Policy and Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Eric has extensive experience in the areas of healthcare law, criminal law, and administrative law. He started his legal career at Maryland Legal Aid in Baltimore, where he represented clients in administrative appeals before state and federal agencies. Eric notably served as the Lead Attorney for the Ryan White Project, and piloted a medical-legal partnership with the Johns Hopkins University Moore Clinic focused on obtaining medical and legal services for individuals with HIV/AIDS. Thereafter, Eric became an Assistant Public Defender for the Maryland Office of the Public Defender, Collateral Review Division, where he represented clients in appellate proceedings in state court.

A California native, Eric returned to Southern California, where he recently served as the Supervising Attorney of the Health Consumer Center at Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County. In this role, Eric led a team of advocates and attorneys overseeing direct services and impact litigation cases across all of Los Angeles County on issues related to healthcare access, medical insurance disputes, medical debt, impact litigation and policy work in response to the 2018 Woolsey Fire.

Eric served as a Policy Fellow at the Los Angeles LGBT Center and remains a fierce advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights.
