Patrick James is a senior associate in WSHB’s New York office, where he focuses his practice on complex catastrophic injury, construction, and transportation matters.
A graduate of New York School of Law, Patrick participated in the Charles W. Froessel Moot Court Competition and served in the Justice Action Center. He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science, with a minor in Economics, from Fordham University. As an undergrad, Patrick studied abroad in Budapest, Hungary at Corvinus University.
Prior to joining the firm, Patrick worked at the Queens District Attorney’s Office, where he began his career as an Assistant District Attorney straight out of law school, which gave him the opportunity to manage a caseload of approximately 250 cases from inception through trial at any given time. Patrick would eventually serve in the Career Criminal Major Crimes Bureau, where he prosecuted the most violent felony offenders in Queens County. As an Assistant District Attorney, he conducted pre-arrest investigations, pre-trial hearings and ultimately brought cases to trial. A proven trial lawyer, Patrick has successfully taken nearly 30 of the county’s most serious and violent felony cases to trial, conducting dozens of suppression hearings and successfully argued several motions. He received an excellence in prosecution award from the Federal Bureau of Investigation for his work in the prosecution of a 1990 cold case homicide. He brings his courtroom prowess and litigation strategies to each case, and is widely sought out for his trial process.
