WSHB Partner Nancy Quinn Koba Elected Supreme Court Justice for the Ninth District

November 7, 2019

New York, NY – We are pleased and honored to announce that WSHB Partner Nancy Quinn Koba has been elected as a Supreme Court Justice for the Ninth District. Koba was one of five candidates vying for four open seats in the Ninth Judicial District of the New York Supreme Court in the November 5, 2019 general election. The Ninth district covers Westchester, Rockland, Dutchess, Orange, and Putnam counties.

In a congratulatory email sent to the entire WSHB staff, Firm Chairman Dan Berman wrote: “Nancy has been an integral part of WSHB’s growth and success in New York over the past four years and is incredibly deserving of this new role.”

“Nancy is one of the most talented attorneys I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Her leadership, intelligence, tenacity, understanding of the law and strength when confronted with difficult trial matters make her a powerhouse attorney. I know it has been a lifelong dream to be a Supreme Court judge, Nancy will be one of the best in the state. We are all lucky to have her wearing the robe and banging the gavel,” said New York Managing Partner Mike Coffey.

A partner in WSHB’s New York and Connecticut offices, Koba has over thirty-two years of experience as a civil litigation attorney with significant trial, mediation and appellate credentials. Her practice primarily focuses on the defense of professional liability claims against insurance agents and brokers, attorneys, ambulance service providers, miscellaneous healthcare professionals, notary publics and design professionals. She has also defended professional liability claims against nursing homes, home inspectors, dentists and actuaries. In addition to her professional liability practice, she has handled all types of high exposure, complex liability cases, including lead poisoning claims, products liability, Labor Law, general liability, municipal liability, automobile claims, insurance coverage issues, excess claims monitoring and declaratory judgment actions in the state and federal courts.

Koba will remain on as a partner for the firm until she is sworn in in early 2020.
