Alan's practice areas include commercial and construction litigation, toxic tort, and general civil liability. Alan was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Alan received his Bachelor's Degrees in Political Science and Legal Studies from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and his law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law. Alan is a member of the California Bar and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California and the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. While at the University of Oregon School of Law, Alan received numerous scholarships and awards, including the University of Oregon School of Law Orlando John and Marian H. Hollis Alumni Scholarship and a scholarship from the Oregon Chapter of the National Bar Association. Also during law school, Alan served as a Judicial Extern to The Honorable Bryan T. Hodges, Lane County Circuit Court, was a research assistant for Professor Tom Lininger, and also a regional semi-finalist in the Thurgood Marshall National Black Law Student Association's Mock Trial Competition. Alan was also a Staff Editor for the Oregon Law Review. After his second year of law school, Alan received the Dan Bradley Fellowship from the Legal Aid Association of California. As a Dan Bradley Fellow, Alan worked with the Home Equity and Consume Fraud Group at Bet Tzedek Legal Services in Los Angeles.
Prior to joining Wood Smith, Alan was a project attorney for Manatt Phelps & Phillips and was able to assist attorneys in winning a $28.1 million dollar verdict on behalf of over 2,000 retired NFL Players. In addition Alan was a Volunteer Attorney for the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley and a seventh grade Mentor at Condoleezza Rice's Center for a New Generation at the Boys & Girls Club of the Peninsula. |
