Representation of developers and builders in all aspects of construction, from development to post-construction disputes including environmental disputes, structural issues, architectural issues, geotechnical claims regarding building code violations.
Representative projects include hotel resorts, high rise buildings, commercial buildings, educations institutions, and large tract and multiple residential construction.
Prosecution and Defense of general constructors in mechanic lien and stop notice claims.
Defense of claims for damages due to delays in construction on behalf of developers and general contractors.
Defense of developers against homeowner claims of fraud and negligent misrepresentation. Cases range from single family home disputes to cases involving hundreds of properties.

Ms. Royster's practice is focused on the areas of real estate and construction law. Ms. Royster represents developers and general contractors in claims and lawsuits arising out of the construction industry. She has experience in representing residential and commercial builders in litigation involving construction liens, delay damages and construction quality issues. She represents a diverse client base including corporations and private individuals, with special emphasis on construction cases.
Ms. Royster has extensive experience in handling complex claims including additional insured coverage analysis and negotiation of cases in multiparty actions. Ms. Royster maintains and manages in all stages of litigation, including depositions, mandatory settlement conferences, mediations and arbitrations. Ms. Royster has successfully prepared and argued pre-trial motions including Motions for Summary Judgment, Demurrers and Motion for Determination of Good Faith Settlement on behalf of real estate developers, builders and general contractors.
Prior to working in construction and real estate law, Ms. Royster represented large-scale food manufacturers, distributors and restaurants against claims involving food borne illnesses including salmonella to foreign objects in food.
Ms. Royster graduated from Whittier Law School. While at Whittier Law School, Ms. Royster was a member of the Trial Advocacy Honors Board and competed in national competitions. She is admitted to the U.S. District Courts of California - Central District and U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit.
On a more personal note, Ms. Royster enjoys scuba diving. She has been PADI certified since 2000. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities including kayaking and mountain bike riding. |
