Jade Tran has focused her 15 years of litigation practice on toxic tort, asbestos, products liability, premises liability and catastrophic injury matters. She has experience representing a wide array of clients from individuals to multi-national corporations in business disputes and personal injury / wrongful death actions.  Jade’s practice also includes habitability, elder abuse, and environmental litigation.  Her clients include property management companies, commercial and residential property owners, hotels, trucking companies, and manufacturers.  Jade is skilled in all aspects of the litigation process through trial and has successfully practiced in a variety of different areas of law.  Jade is admitted to practice in the California state courts and the U.S. District Court – Southern District of California.

  • Defense of a wide range of service providers, including, caregivers, home health providers, and hospice services from claims of elder abuse, professional negligence, and wrongful death.
Mold and Water Damage
  • Defense of owners and property managers of single-family and multi-unit dwellings with respect to personal injury and property damage stemming from code violations, vermin, water intrusion, mold growth, natural gas leaks, and friable asbestos.
Product Liability
  • Defense of product manufacturers and distributors against claims of personal injury due to alleged defects in product design or manufacture.
  • Defense of product manufacturers against claims of breach of warranties.
Toxic Tort and Occupational Exposure
  • Defense of manufacturers and product distributors against claims of occupational exposure to products containing toxins such as benzene.
  • Defense of asbestos consultants and contractors, and public entities with respect to claims of personal injury due to asbestos exposure and resultant mesothelioma and death.

Trial & Appellate Results

Brogren v. Plueger (2007) – Orange County Superior Court.  Defense of landlord against claims of personal injury and property damage due to mold exposure in a Laguna Beach home.  Plaintiff’s $3 million claim was reduced to an award of $1,800 for rent abatement for inconvenience while leak was repaired.

Ryvkin v. Terry York Motors (2008) – Los Angeles Superior Court.  Defense verdict obtained in wrongful death action against claims of negligent vehicle inspection and repair leading to rollover accident.

Gayner v. Allan (2011) – San Diego Superior Court.  Defense of landlord against multiple contract and tort claims related to storm damage and exposure to mold and asbestos in a La Jolla home. Defendants prevailed against the majority of Plaintiffs’ claims.  The jury awarded a single item of damage for rent abatement for a portion of the 6.5 year tenancy due to the existence of friable asbestos in heating system.

Koudriatseva v. Versailles on the Lake (2012) – Orange County Superior Court.  Defense verdict obtained in favor of property owner and manager against claims of water intrusion leading to toxic mold exposure and retaliatory eviction.  Plaintiff claimed a host of bodily injuries and an ongoing inability to maintain employment due to same, as well as, the disposal of the entirety of her personal property.

Cooper v. Extraordinary Home Care, Inc. (2015) – Orange County Superior Court.  Defense verdict in a wrongful death action brought by the parents of a 33 year old bipolar schizophrenic client against the defendant caregiving company and its caregiver. Client overdosed on her psychiatric medications while in the care of the defendant caregiver.
